Tri-County Hospital located in Lexington is only 25
miles away. All three towns are staffed with the doctors, medical services
and staff needed to meet the needs of Bertrand citizens.
Nursing Home:
The Bertrand Nursing Home, located at 100 Minor Avenue,
is a 26-bed Nursing Facility with 16 assisted living units. It is
a community-owned home with a first rate level of care and a very caring staff.
Residents enjoy a variety of activities, a craft room, physical therapy and exercise.
The home has a handicapped-accessible van to transport residents to appointments
and for outings. Meals-on-wheels are offered to elderly residents of the community.
Adult day care is also available. The home has a fenced-in park area for residents
to enjoy which overlooks the golf course and rolling fields of corn. For more

911 Services:
911 services are available to residents in Bertrand and the surrounding area. A well-trained Fire Department has modern up-to-date equipment. In times of a medical emergency, the community has an excellent rescue squad with certified EMTs. Bertrand has two modern emergency units, one outfitted with a defibrillator, and a first response unit equipped with the Jaws of Life. Bertrand is very proud of their fire and rescue squad.
Veterinary Services:
The Bertrand Veterinary Clinic, 308-472-5039, provides
care for large animals and pets. Grooming and boarding services and a complete
line of veterinary products is available.
Health Services:
The Bertrand Health Clinic, 308-472-1472, is located
at 402 Minor Avenue. Ruby J. Houck, APRN, Family Nurse Practitioner, cares for
colds, sinuses, throat infections, cuts, sprains, and other short-term problems.
She also helps with long-term concerns including high blood pressure, diabetes,
arthritis, etc. She will help find answers or refer you to the appropriate professional.
